aspiring opera singers

New York Opera Conservatory produces two five-week summer programs each year. Each session offers an opportunity to put
full leading roles on the resumés of young opera singers in addition to opportunities to participate smaller roles or learn to stage direct. New York Opera Conservatory is committed to being a “trade school” for the opera craft: a hands-on approach, spending more time doing and less time theorizing. Compared to other YAPs (Young Artist Programs), it is a more affordable way for young singers to build their resumes, learn the details of the opera business, and get work.

Each 5 week period produces 3 or 4 casts, each with their own performances. The operas are performed for an audience locally and tickets to the performances during the summer are sold on the Taconic Opera website
ticket page and at the door. Announcements of the repertoire, along with dates the operas are being performed, are included on the season page of this website.
