New York Opera Conservatory Free Summer Program Opera
La Cenerentola (Cinderella) By Gioacchino Rossini
By the composer of The Barber of Seville, La Cenerentola is one of the most hilarious operas ever composed. More than a century before Walt Disney changed the story, the Cinderella was a slapstick, buffo comedy about a prince looking to marry. Instead of a wicked stepmother, there is a buffo stepfather. Instead of a glass slipper, there are crystal bracelettes. Instead of romance, there is side-splitting comedy that only Rossini could bring us! Along with the Summer conservatory performers, the buffo is played by Taconic Opera's favorite buffo, Jorge Ocasio, who will perform with all three casts of this show.
